A music department consisting of a mass choir, dancers, musicians and technical staff, first released an album “In Honour” in 1999 and have since released nine albums of which seven are live albums. As growth took place, they soon realised that the time had come to cut the umbilical cord from their then producer Trevor Sampson and start doing it for themselves. This was the birth of new beginnings. From a trio to a praise and worship team to a fully-fledged digital studio, this was the music department’s coming of age. On completion of their first independent project, the recording and production of” On the wings of love” in 2003, the music department had arrived. Not only was CMI been accredited by surrounding communities and churches, they could now afford other churches the opportunity of recording their music professionally and right on their doorstep.
As the saying goes “Home brewed”. By the time, “He Cares” was recorded in 2005, CMI had moved into the Auditorium in Aeroton. The new building had its acoustic challenges, it was bigger than the previous one but this did not hinder them from producing an exceptional recording far exceeding all expectations. The growth of the music department kept pace with the phenomenal growth of CMI, from a mere eight members in 1992 to four thousand today and growing! The music department started with only three members and today it records and produces all its own music in a fully-fledged digital music studio! Clearly blessed by our Lord!
